Vaginal Steaming 101

What is a vaginal steam?
Vaginal steaming is an ancient practice used by women all over the world to support the healing of a variety of gynecological problems including cramps, heavy bleeding, trouble conceiving, infections, fibroids, cysts, dryness, and irregular menstrual cycles.

What to expect at my first vaginal steam session?
You will be warmly greeted by me! I will have prepared a pot of beautifully steeped herbs, (its like making a giant batch of herbal tea) based on your specific needs. You will undress from the waist down and change into a lovely steam gown (provided by me). You will sit on a comfortable seat and wrap a blanket around yourself for extra warmth if needed. You will rest here for the appropriate time, based on your cycle consultation. During this time you will drink tea or water, read, meditate, listen to music, whatever you choose, this is your sacred time of healing. You will be in a private cozy room and I will wait outside. I now offer this service virtually with the option of a home steam session.

What Does It Feel Like?
It feels like a gentle warmth, think of how it feels to take a warm bath. That first "ahhhhh" feeling.

What is vaginal steaming used for?
Most commonly, vaginal steaming is used by midwives for postpartum care right after a woman has a baby. However....vaginal steaming is also used as a hygienic post-period practice to assist in gently removing any left-over blood out of the vaginal tract and uterus once the period is over. Lastly, vaginal steaming is used to support the healing of gynecological problems. Cramps, trouble conceiving, infections, fibroids, cysts, dryness...vaginal steaming helps to naturally support healing of the problem. From the first period to post-menopause, it is an important tool for self-care.
Does It Really Work?
According to various case studies, vaginal steaming appears to improve symptoms in over 90% of all gynecological problems and shows tremendous potential as an alternative to invasive medical procedures. See link below for info regarding the fourth trimester vaginal steam study results.

There's clear reason why women everywhere have used it for thousands of years. There's nothing that compares to it.
One thing is evident--vaginal steaming doesn't hurt, and--if it does work in a specific case--it's a really good alternative to surgery and artificial hormones.
